Tribute to Alhaji Dr. Isiaka Agaka

The Coordinator, Intelligence Quotient Academy
HOD, Department of Physical & Health Education, College of Education, Zuba, Abuja

Life is not without few individuals who leave a profound impact on the hearts of people through their noble character and boundless generosity. Such individuals are not mere fleeting names, but they become symbols of love, goodness, and sacrifice. Their loss is not just a sorrow for their families, but a loss for the entire community nay nation and even, the globe, for they were fathers for fatherless and a guide to all, a role model to be emulated.

In this moment, we mourn a great man, Alhaji Dr. Ishaq Adebayo Agaka, who embodied many noble qualities that made him a living example of dedication and humanity, leaving behind an indelible mark in the hearts of those who knew him.

What a great loss it is for us, with the passing of the one who was a father and guide to us all—Alhaji Dr. Ishaq Adebayo Agaka, a father to everyone, a man with a big heart. He was true to his word, never retracting what he promised, always loyal in his commitments. His wisdom in making decisions was a touch light for us in moments of confusion, and hesitation. Error had no place in his judgment.

We knew him to be noble in spirit, always giving without limit, even in the most difficult circumstances. He was patient in the face of adversity, standing firm with strength and resilience. He never withheld advice from us, always an honest advisor who would never conceal the truth, no matter the difficulty.

He was courageous in facing challenges, unafraid to stand against the storms, facing them with a heart full of faith. He served everyone with dedication and sincerity, never seeking reward or thanks. He had keen insight, seeing what others could not, always guiding us toward what was best.

He was not only just in his judgment but also merciful at heart, combining justice and compassion in his person. He lived steadfastly upon his principles, unaffected by the winds of change, and his humility was a hallmark of his character, making both the near and far feel a sense of closeness and respect in his presence.

He was sincere in his work, never knowing fatigue or weariness, and was committed to spreading peace in all that he did. His heart never harbored malice, as he was forgiving even to those who wronged him, teaching us lessons of pardon and mercy. He was bold in difficult situations, leading us with bravery and confidence when others hesitated.

His kindness toward the weak was evident in every moment, as he nurtured them with his big heart. He was a natural leader, gathering hearts and minds around him, inspiring those around him, illuminating the path and encouraging us to walk upon it. He was a true example of a man who was created to be a symbol of goodness and dedication, and he will be missed by all who knew him—near and far, young and old.

Our beloved mentor, if prayers or offerings could shield you from death, surely you would still be with us. But death has no remedy, and no soul can escape its call. So, with hearts full of sorrow, we submit to the will of Allah, trusting in His wisdom and mercy. Your legacy lives on, and though we grieve, we find solace in knowing that you are now in the care of the Most Compassionate, awaiting the eternal peace promised to the righteous.

I pray, as we hope,  that Allah have mercy upon him, to grant him the vastness of His Paradise, and to make all his deeds weigh heavily in the balance of his good works. May He unite us with him in the abode of His mercy.  Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.
